The Department of Economics organised an academic presentation and analytical discussion on the Union Budget 2026-27. The presentation was delivered by Mr Tshering Wangchuk Bhutia (HoD).
The Session covered the constitutional basis of the budget , its theme “ Yuva Shakti- driven Budget,” fiscal consolidation targets , capital expenditure push , and sectoral initiatives in infrastructure , education, health, employment and agriculture.
Key fiscal indicators discussed included
● Fiscal Deficit : 4.3 % of GDP
● Revenue Deficit : 1.5% of GDP
● Primary Deficit : 0.7% of GDP
The programme was successful in delivering its primary objective of schooling the participants on the meaning, understanding and application of Fiscal indicators as incorporated in the Budget presentation. The programme concluded with an interactive quiz session to reinforce conceptual understanding and encourage student participation. The programme was academically enriching and aligned with outcome – based education under NEP guidelines.
